各位团友;大家早上好，按照行程安排我们今天前往被誉为塞上明珠的沙湖生态旅游区，沙湖位于银川平原北部，石嘴山市平罗县境内，在姚叶高速公路(也就是我们现在行驶的公路)和包兰铁路交叉点，交通十分便利。距银川市56公里，石嘴山市20公里，我们乘车大约行驶50分钟;沙湖的总面积80.10平方公里，水域面积45平方公里，平均水深2.2米，最深处可达4米，流动沙丘22.5平方公里。
沙湖的面积从西南的长胜东沙窝到东北的米家沙窝全长25公里，从西北的归德沟洪积扇下洼地到东南的包兰铁路宽12公里，总面积至少在200平方公里到300平方公里，甚至更大。银川在历史上得上湖的水面的只有一处，那就是历史上的沙湖。沙湖这个地名是古代从平罗威镇堡到归德沟、韭菜沟中间唯一的地名，而且在地图上的跨度长达216年(公元1725年～公元1941年)。文字记载473年。排水沟的情况下，大武口沟口、韭菜沟、归德沟、大风沟、小风沟(汝箕沟历史上入沙湖，现在改道入镇朔湖)，这六条大沟十几条小沟的上书朝廷需要这个地名，二是佥事齐之鸾在工程竣工后报告朝廷也需要这个地名。
